With a reputation for designing clothes women love to wear it will be no surprise to us if the new range from Secret South flies of the racks.
Expect classic silhouettes splashed with eye catching prints and comfortable fabrics. We think that this seasons cut is just a smidge’ over perfect and completely wearable for work or play. This is the eighth collection that we have produced for Secret South… boy! does time fly. Discover Secret South here.
Although we have been pumped for production lately delivering several new ranges for clients we still had time to create this spectacular show stopping dress for a much loved Made For Me Client.
You could say the design was inspired by the clients own personality with an elegant metallic lace forming the outer layer and a silk satin lining.
The dress is finished with a metallic sequin waistband.
Our in-house tailor and sample machinist extraordinare Kozue even had to break out the protective eyewear and pliers to complete the work.
A classic pattern silhouette is the perfect canvas to showcase the amazing talents of Surface Designers Luisa Franco & John Valastro and their new business Madge.
The two designers established Madge in 2013 to create designs for a range of surfaces including yardage and small collections of homewares and fashion. Check out the neat little video on all things Madge
Casey Tanswell’s inspiration for her spring summer 2014 range draws mystically from La Belle Époque… and perhaps places beyond.
The artistic aesthetic of Casey’s designs took us all on a journey back to unhurried times when dressing was more ritual than routine. Casey warps old worlds with the new choosing exquisite French laces, flowing silks and buttery soft lamb skin finished off with laser cutting and digital printing. Casey is based in Queensland but chose to set up camp in Sydney so that she could be involved throughout the pattern development process and worked alongside the pattern making team. Caryn Luxton Design is managing production for the range. Discover more about this wonderful “new guard” designer and shop the Casey Tanswell Collection.
Digitally printed Italian silks, elegant design silhouettes, passion and teamwork collide to create Samantha Baileys stunning new range.
Samantha’s intricate designs and choice of elaborately printed silks created several challenges for our senior pattern maker Nana Yi and new prodigy Celine Okada. To realise Samantha’s vision for the collection the team had to strike the perfect balance between her complex designs and the kaleidoscope of colours exploding over the nine unique prints. After some late nights and a few lost weekends we are all very proud of the results. Caryn Luxton Design is managing production for the range.
The CLD team was delighted to see one of our brilliant interns Celine Okada graduate with a diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology as Sydney Ultimo TAFE. Celine has been working with us one day a week during her final year of study. Celine says the highlights of the course for her were learning manual and cad pattern making and being able to apply what she had learnt in creating her graduate range – which was the BOMB!
